A few weeks ago, I had the chance to do my very first in-home couples session.. in New York City! Migle is a talented photographer and one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. She’s originally from Cleveland and recently moved to New York to be closer to her other half, Matt, who works as an architect in the city. Shortly after she moved, she entered a giveaway I was offering last December for a chance to win a free couples session. When her name popped up as my winner, I was beyond excited (but shocked) because thanks to social media, I had learned that Matt asked Migle to marry him just a week earlier. Seriously, what are the chances?! I called her right away to tell her the news. As fate would have it, Bill and I were already planning a trip to New York in February for fashion week. Sometimes the stars just align!
It was a total downpour that afternoon. Thankfully, we had already planned to take photos at Matt’s place, which worked perfectly. His roomy upper east side apartment had great natural light, even on such an overcast day. We drank fresh brewed coffee and talked about Migle and Matt’s relationship quirks- my favorite subject to discuss while photographing couples. These two were full of laughs and just so easy to be around.
The map on the living room wall has a pin in it from every friend who visits Matt’s apartment from out of town. I found room for one more pin in Cleveland.
I loved this session so much because these photos feel so… them! Nothing out of the ordinary, just a typical cozy weekend afternoon. I think I see more in-home couples sessions in my future…
wahhhhhh! you’re the best– Love this so much! 🙂
These are soooo adorable! You can really see what kind of couple they are. Amazing indoor photos.
Matt Fischer ate my wombat. It’s name was Terry.
I miss Terry.
